Athletic Department Philosophy

Piedmont Classical High School Board members, administrators, and faculty agree that extra-curricular activities are an essential part of each student's comprehensive high school career. These activities offer learning experiences, character building and competitive situations in addition to those experiences and opportunities experienced in the classroom.

The staff of Piedmont Classical encourages every student to participate in an activity that he/she finds challenging or enjoyable. Our athletic program will follow the mission, goals, rules, and expectations of our school. Our sports, clubs, and activities will not discriminate against any person on the basis of sex, race, national origin, ancestry, creed, sexual orientation or disability.

Vision Statement

Piedmont Classical High School’s Athletic Program is an essential and indispensable compliment to an educational process that provides meaningful experiences, activities, and growth opportunities. This process should promote learning and development and strive to help student-athletes excel in the evolution and maturation of lifeskills, healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship, and citizenship.

We foresee Piedmont Classical as a Charter School that offers an Athletic Program to its students that serves as a model for the Charter Schools in North Carolina. Participation in athletic activities should be considered a compliment to the academic mission of the school and should enhance all experiences of school life. We envision a program that offers quality teams with excellent coaches who value skill development, fundamentals, and the ability to teach the sports theycoach. Our coaches and our Athletic Director are accountable for complying with the rules established for participation by our school, Board of Directors, and the Association we belong to.
